How To Be A Monk

Looks can certainly be deceiving, but if you really want to go all the way with this Medieval Monk Costume, then it is best that you know a little bit of what it takes to be one in the first place.

Becoming a monk isn’t like just signing up for the army.  If you want to enter the monastery, you must first become an oblate, this is for the younger ones.  An oblate is basically a child who was given to the monastery by his father.  However, if one is already of age, then he can become a novice.  A novice does not require the blessing of any parent or guardian.  He just simply has to take his vows if he truly wants to enter.  To become a monk takes years and years of life in the monastery devoting your life to God and prayer.  You will have to let go of worldly possessions, wants, temptations, and whatnot.  This is a big sacrifice tat you have to give up.  And, there isn’t even an exact period of time it takes to turn into one.  It all depends on the abbot of the monastery you are in.  Since he is the head after all, he is the one who decides when you are finally ready.  When he agrees, you can then take your final vows and then become a monk at last.

Medieval Monk Costume

With the Medieval Monk Costume, you won’t even have to wait a day.  Putting on this holy ensemble only takes a couple of minutes then you’ll be out partying before you even know it.

Basically, all you really have to do is put on the rich brown robe over whatever you already have on.  Heck, you could even just be wearing shorts and a shirt and no one will ever know.  It has a high collar, long sleeves, and it comes way down to your ankles.  The most detail it has are a hood and a caplet.  Monks are known to be conservative after all.  Simply tie it together with the white rope belt and top it all off with the wig to complete the whole look.

Sure, with this Medieval Knight Costume, you won’t be saving any lives like the soldiers do, but you will be saving souls after all.
