A Little Look On The Irish Renaissance

The Irish Renaissance is known as a couple other things, such as the Irish Revival, the Celtic Renaissance, and the Celtic Revival.  This movement occurred sometime in the late 19^th century to the early 20^th.  The very goal of this was to give life to traditional folklore, legends, and traditions in new literary forms.

However, this Celtic movement was not merely for literary works regarding such things but there was also a political side to it.  Even the self government of Ireland and the struggle to claim independence has a big role and influence on the Irish Renaissance.  This brought about some of the greatest plays and dramas of J.M. Synge and Sean O’Casey, not to mention some of the finest works of poetry written by W.B. Yeats to name a few.  But one of the greatest things that came out this movement would have to be the establishment of the Abbey Theater.
