A Little History On King Henry VIII
Henry the VIII, Henry Tudor, was named after his father, king Henry the VII. His mother was Elizabeth of York and he was born on June 28th, 1491 in Greenich Palace. The thing is, Henry the VIII wasn’t even expected to take over the throne since he is the second son and not the first. That is why there is not much about him during his early years. What is most known about him is only after his older brother passed away, Arthur, Prince of Wales.
Henry the VIII is actually one of the youngest kings to take over the throne. Although he was only 18 years old when he became king, he had prepared for that day for a very long time. It was actually rather refreshing to have such a youthful ruler in Court. However, aside from that, one of the things that he is most famous for is his numerous marriages. He had six wives, and his very first, Catherine of Aragon, was actually his older brother’s at first.
Henry VIII Plus Costume
Bring a whole new meaning to FANCY dress parties with this royal ensemble. This is not a medieval knight costume as such but Henry had many knight costumes. This outfit is his dressing up gear when he is away from the jousting contests and hanging at the palace.
To begin, put on the rich deep blue long sleeved tunic that comes down to your thighs. Since nothing screams “royalty” more than velvet that is exactly what the whole thing is made of. The round neck line has a white fringe running across it and has a gold lining. The same gold trim goes right down the middle and can be found on the ends of the sleeves as well as lining the bottom. There is an intricate paisley design that can be found around the waist area as well as the upper parts of the sleeves and just before the bottom part.
Over the tunic goes a matching brown velvet vest of the same length lined in white faux fur. You may not exactly have the crown jewels, but this medieval knight costume does come with a gold chain necklace that features a big ruby pendant. Top it all off with the headpiece of the same blue velvet with the same gold trim around it. This hat not only showcases a jewel embellished at the center but that big plush yellow feather on top as well.
With the Henry VIII Plus Costume on, you are sure to have a ball and rule the night.
